愛光中学校、受験者4名全員合格
time-school 1月9日(火)、2024年度愛光中学入試の結果が発表される日です。TIMEからも4名の6年生が受験しました。
4名全員が安泰というわけではありません。年末年始にかけて調子が落ちていた子、ここまでさぼっていたのに猛追してきている子、出来不出来の差が激しい子、などなど。
12月は30日まで授業を行い、「予習シリーズ」「演習問題集」をほぼ解き終えました。全ては解いていません。簡単な基本問題は宿題とし、逆に難しすぎる問題は割愛し、絶対に落とせない問題に注力し、解き切りました。
また、今年は社会を苦手とする子が多かったため、社会はあまり深入りせずに、重箱の隅をつつかなければならないような知識には触れませんでした。その分、理科には時間をかけました。ただ、時間はかけましたが、難解な問題や理解するのに時間ばかりかかるような問題はカットです。理科のテキストやテストの問題には、高校化学を詳細な説明をつけて作ったものがありましたが、作問にあまりに無理を感じて、こういうものもカット。
”英語スクール＆進学塾TIME”なので、受験4教科の勉強と英語の勉強を並行している子がいます。12月はさすがにお休みする子はいましたが、半年以上もやめる子はいませんでした。遊ぶこともやめて勉強一本の1年間を過ごした子もいません。自ら進んでそうするのならともかく、それを小学6年生に強いるのはいかがなものかと思うのですが。
予習シリーズが終わってからは、「中学受験完成テスト」を演習しました。少し簡単に感じましたが、標準的なちょうどいい具合の問題が多くあり、最終確認には適当だったと思います。
過去問はいつやったのか。「予習シリーズ」の上巻は6月までに終え、7,8月に愛光と済美平成の過去問を10年程度解きました。同じ問題が解けるようになっているかの確認も、1週間単位で行いました。夏休みに過去問を解くのは早いという意見があります。大学入試でも、赤本で志望校の過去問を解くことを共通テスト後にとっておくという受験生をたまに見かけます。知識がないのに解くのは無意味でしょうが、知識が入った後ならできるだけ早めに取りかかるのがいいと考えています。その中で自分の課題も浮き彫りになってくるのではないでしょうか。
また夏休み中は、「4科のまとめ」という基本問題集を、必要とする生徒にだけ課しました。
受験まで1週間を切っておこなった前述の「中学受験完成テスト」でも、いい結果を出した子、全く調子が上がらない子、様々でした。国語がなかなかできるようにならない子に、自分でできる市販の問題集で学習した後で、
塾教材で文章題を解く課題を出しました。
1/7に受験が終わり、1/9合格発表です。昼に済美平成を受験した生徒から合格の連絡を受けました。これは順当です。
19:00。授業中だったため、こちらでHPから合否の確認ができませんでした。休憩時間まで連絡を待ちます。数分後、1名の生徒から合格の連絡（LINE）がありました。ホッとしましたが、他3名から連絡はなく不安が募りました。休憩に入り、他3名の合格を確認しました。嬉しさももちろんありましたが、安堵の方が大きかったのが正直な気持ちです。
この先、どの道に行くかは本人や保護者の方次第です。公立に行くという選択も、もちろんいいでしょう。愛媛県ではしない子の方が多い中学受験を乗り切ったという自負をもって進んでいってほしいですね。
